THE QUICK ANSWER
Start with your missing piece: video review, workout structure, punch tracking, or audio callouts. Choose for that job before comparing price. The best fit for a beginner following rounds may be different from the best fit for someone reviewing coached practice.
We publish Fight AI. This comparison uses official product pages, not hands-on testing. Features and offers can change. How we write these guides.
A shortlist by training need
This is a product-research guide published by Fight AI, not an independent ranking or a hands-on test. We selected five apps with distinct training workflows. We do not claim these are the largest apps or that one improves your boxing more than the others.
| Your main need | An option to investigate | Check before paying |
|---|---|---|
| AI feedback on a recording | Fight AI | Usable footage, current plan, and the limits of AI observations. |
| Connected home workouts | FightCamp | Equipment package and membership tier. |
| Guided workouts with tracking options | PunchLab | Hardware required for the tracking mode you want. |
| Guided bag or shadowboxing rounds | Heavy Bag Pro | Workout controls, free selection, and premium access. |
| Audio callouts and customizable rounds | Shadow Boxing App | Available callouts and current free/premium limits. |
1. Do you want feedback on your own video?
Fight AI centers on uploaded training footage, AI observations, coach conversations, and training guidance. It makes sense to investigate if you already record practice and want another perspective on it. See the published app features.
But “supports video” can mean several things. An app may let you record yourself, replay footage, or generate an automated interpretation. Ask which of those you actually want. Shadow Boxing App, for example, advertises recording and mirror features; recording alone is different from AI analysis. See its feature list.
For any automated review, ask what is visible in the clip and what the system might have guessed. Our review workflow is a useful starting point.
2. Do you mainly need a workout to follow?
FightCamp’s connected system is built around workouts and punch tracking with dedicated hardware. PunchLab describes coach-guided sessions with bag and shadowboxing options. Heavy Bag Pro focuses on guided combinations, timers, and workout customization. FightCamp · PunchLab · Heavy Bag Pro.
Look beyond the number of workouts. Check whether you can understand the cues, adjust the pace, pause a session, and choose material appropriate to your experience. A large library is only useful if you can find a session you will actually complete.
3. Does the setup fit your space?
Write down what you have: a phone, clear floor space, a bag, a stand, or compatible trackers. Then compare each feature’s requirements. An app offering shadowboxing does not necessarily offer every tracking feature without extra hardware.
For video review, camera placement matters. For audio callouts, audibility matters. For a connected workout, equipment compatibility matters. Check the setup for your intended feature instead of treating an app’s whole feature list as one package.
4. What will it cost to keep the habit?
Compare the actual offer shown on your device: initial equipment, subscription interval, renewal amount, included features, and cancellation route. Store listings can show several purchases that are not all available in the same offer or region.
Do not judge value only by a monthly equivalent for an annual plan. Paying a year upfront is a different commitment from paying month to month. A lower price is not a saving if the app does not address your problem.
5. Can you define a useful first session?
YOUR TWO-MINUTE DECISION
- My main missing piece is: ______.
- I will use the app during / after practice.
- The equipment I already own is: ______.
- A useful first session would let me: ______.
- My purchase includes that feature: yes / not yet checked.
That last check prevents a common mismatch: buying a workout app when you want someone to review your form, or buying a review tool when you need a ready-to-follow session.
No app in this guide replaces a qualified coach’s real-time observation or supervision. If recording is the habit you want to build, begin with our simple filming setup.
